Changelog
Rebuilt as the place the software lives
2 min read
foulfoxhacks.dev was a reshuffled copy of the creator site. It now has a job of its own: every tool has a page with its install steps, known limits and releases, in a design that matches what the creator site actually looks like.
An audit against the checks Sammy runs in Ahrefs, Siteliner and PageSpeed showed the first release had no purpose of its own. Most of its text repeated the creator site, it had five pages, and the creator site did not link to it. Sammy decided that project pages should move here, so akasammythepuppy.me stays who Sammy is and foulfoxhacks.dev becomes where the software lives.
What it does
- Tools replaces Projects. Each reviewed tool has its own page at
/tools/<slug>/: what problem it solves, whether it is ready, its features, how to install it, its known limits, its documentation and its releases, under headings phrased the way people search for them. - Case studies is new, and the Furry Con Archives redesign case study moves here with its text unchanged.
- The home page opens on Sammy’s own question, “Why am I doing this manually?”, and each tool leads with the problem it was built for, instead of a grid of tiles.
- About covers the developer side and links to the creator site for the rest.
- The design now matches what the creator site shows: amber on near-black, display type, sharp panels and a blueprint grid, with the SEO-INDEX terminal banner. The first release had used pink, purple and cyan values from a stylesheet that the creator site no longer shows.
Under the hood
- Old
/projects/addresses on this site answer with a permanent redirect to/tools/. - Each tool has a plain Markdown version at
/tools/<slug>.md, linked from its page and fromllms.txtfor language-model readers. They arenoindex, so the HTML stays the search landing page. - Two clocks and the Keep Android Open tile are gone from the home page, which leaves fewer scripts to load. Discord presence loads when it scrolls into view.
- The pages reuse the reviewed project records rather than a copy of them, and quoted text stays in
src/lib/profile.tsandsrc/lib/about.tswith its source marked.
Verification
npm run test:worker(15 checks) andnpm run test:built(80 checks), which now require every tool to have a page, a software entity, an install answer and a Markdown version.test:builtcaught the 404 page still linking to the old/projects/.- Every page type was checked in Chrome at 1280 and 375 pixels wide in dark and light, with no console errors and no horizontal scrolling.
The creator site’s project pages still answer at their old addresses. Redirecting them here is a separate change to that site.
